![]() ![]() The grounding system is required for reliable operation of any electrical equipment including generator, transformer, power system tower, and other power system installation under fault conditions. In any electrical circuit network, the circuitry that provides a path between the parts of the circuit and the ground, is known as the grounding system. The short circuit current values are higher when closer to the generator and therefore is very important to calculate proper protection dimensioning and parametrisation of equipment near the generator. The collected results show high values of short circuit current and the coordination value difference between short circuit places closer or further from the generator. The short-circuit current and t-I characteristics are required for the correct protection coordination, mechanical components dimensioning and electrical strein in the ship's operations. This job is done using the EasyPower software package. ![]() ![]() After designing the ship's power system, choosing generators, transformers, cables and other equipment, the short circuit current calculations are done according to the IEC60909 standard. Today's ships can be considered as island facilities with their own power generation and electricity consumption. This paper presents the complexity of ship propulsion, modeling of its power grid, short circuit calculation and protection coordination in the ship network.
